Maintaining the correct pH balance is essential for clean, clear and comfortable spa water. Our pH Minus (1.5kg) treatment is designed to safely reduce pH levels when test results show that your pool, hot tub or swim spa water is too alkaline.
When pH rises above the recommended range of 7.2 to 7.6, water can become cloudy, scale can begin to form, and sanitising chemicals may stop working as effectively. High pH can also lead to sensitive skin or eye irritation, reducing the comfort of your spa experience.
By lowering pH to the correct level, our pH Minus granules help maintain balanced hot tub chemistry. This keeps water comfortable for skin while supporting sanitiser performance and protecting the internal components of your spa system.
At Hot Tub Stores UK, we recommend testing your water regularly with 3 Way Test Strips, which measure pH, free chlorine and alkalinity levels. If you do not have test strips available, signs of high pH can include cloudy or hazy water, unusual odours, foamy water, algae growth, staining or equipment performance issues.

Lower high pH levels
pH Minus helps reduce high pH levels in spa or pool water. Keeping pH within the ideal range improves water comfort, clarity and overall water chemistry balance.
Test your water regularly
We recommend testing your spa water as often as possible using 3 Way Test Strips. This allows you to monitor pH, chlorine and alkalinity levels and correct imbalances quickly.
Correct high pH levels
If pH is above 7.6, add approximately 10g of pH Minus per 1000 litres of water. For example, around 70g is suitable for 7000 litres of water.
Simple measuring guidance
For quick dosing, one heaped teaspoon contains approximately 9g of pH Minus, making it easy to measure smaller adjustments when balancing your spa water.
Add with circulation running
Always pre-dissolve the product in a clean plastic bucket filled with water. Ensure your circulation system is running and slowly pour the solution above the return inlet for even distribution.
Safety notes
Never mix pH Minus with other chemicals. Always add product to water, not water to product. Handle outdoors or in a ventilated area, wash hands after use and store in a cool, dry place.
