Total alkalinity measures the concentration of alkaline substances in water that resist changes in pH. Maintaining T.A. between 80 and 140 ppm ensures stable water chemistry, reducing the risk of pH swings that can damage equipment or reduce water comfort.
Our TA Plus (1kg) treatment safely increases low total alkalinity. By keeping alkalinity in the recommended range, it stabilises pH levels, protects pool and spa components, and helps maintain clear, balanced water for a relaxing experience.
To check your T.A. levels, we recommend using a 3 way test strip. If levels are low, TA Plus allows easy adjustment, making it simple to keep your water safe and enjoyable.

Benefits of increasing total alkalinity
Stable pH: Proper alkalinity prevents sudden changes in pH, which can cause cloudy water or skin irritation.
Improved comfort: Balanced water is softer on skin and eyes, upgrading the overall swimming or spa experience.
Protects equipment: Stable water chemistry reduces the risk of corrosion, scaling, and damage to pool or spa components.
Supports sanitiser performance: Chlorine or bromine works more effectively when alkalinity is in the correct range, keeping water safe and hygienic.
Directions for use
Test total alkalinity using a test kit.
To raise alkalinity by approximately 10 ppm, add 16 g (2 heaped teaspoons) of TA Plus per 1,000 litres of water.
For example, add 640 g for a 40,000 litre pool to increase alkalinity by 10 ppm.
Always pre-dissolve TA Plus in a clean plastic bucket of water before adding to your pool or spa.
Ensure the circulation system is running and pour the solution slowly above the return inlet.
Do not add while the pool or spa is in use.
Wait 15 minutes before using the water after addition.
Test total alkalinity again after 24 hours and repeat dosing if necessary.

FAQs
Hot tub and pool water care can seem complicated, but with the right products and guidance it’s straightforward.
Find out moreWe recommend testing before each use or at least once a week for regular users. Monitoring total alkalinity along with pH and sanitizer levels keeps water safe, clear, and comfortable.
Using products like TA Plus supports stable water chemistry, prevents irritation, and protects equipment. Regular use keeps water fresh, clear, and safe.
Low alkalinity can lead to unstable pH, cloudy water, or equipment damage. High alkalinity can reduce sanitizer effectiveness. Regular checks and adjustments prevent these issues.
Alongside TA Plus, consider pH adjusters, chlorine or bromine granules, and shock treatments. Our team can advise on the ideal combination for your water.
